Nutritional diseases:
-Obesity or overweight is an excessive accumulation of fat in the body. People that carry out this problem tend to suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiac disorders, among other physical complications.
–Bulimia is an eating disorder which consists of eating large amount of food and then, expulse it by vomiting or abusing of laxatives and diuretics (as well as doing excessive exercise). It’s related with anorexia and they are both considered to be a psychological eating disorder.
–Anorexia is a refuse to eat. People with this problem have the fear of gaining weight, so for them, they are never too skinny enough.
–Rickets is a deficiency of vitamin D. It’s characterized by bowed legs and in many cases, bone deformities.
–Scurvy consists of having low levels of Vitamin C as well as having ascorbic acid in the body. People with this disease can’t produce collagen in their body (which is the main protein that connects the tissues). Some consequences of scurvy are abnormal formation of teeth and bones and bleeding.
-Iron Deficiency Anaemia is caused by the deficiency of iron in the body. It’s characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin in the body and as a result we have fatigue, weakness and paleness of the body. It’s the most widespread nutritional deficiency.
–Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders of carbohydrate metabolism. There are different types of diabetes:
Type 1: often begins in late childhood with the pancreas failing to secrete adequate amounts of insulin. It’s mainly genetic and it’s treated by injections of insulin and with some spaced meals and snacks.
Type 2: it’s the most common type and generally starts in middle age. Insulin cells unable to admit glucose, which then accumulates in the blood. Weight loss often helps to normalize blood glucose regulation.
